'I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL'

'I HATE SCHOOL'

'I CAN'T DO MY WORK'

Does any of this sound familiar?

The constant feeling of worry about school, and the pressure you feel as a parent/caregiver/teacher?

School is full of opportunity and excitement, but for many children it can throw up worries. We know that when we feel worried, we want to retreat to safety. We all do.

If school feels threatening in any way, we are likely to see a range of behaviours that signal distress, and resistance to the environment. It makes total sense. All our brains ever want to do is keep us safe.

That is why I wrote 'Worry Rhymes for School Times'.

I have written the book I wish I had read as a child.

Our brains are noisy, and when the worry thoughts whirl we can often feel so alone. One of the key messages in my book is that children are not alone. Worrying is normal.

School does have anxiety provoking elements. Feeling worried or anxious about them is usually a very healthy response.

The book is designed to cover 25 different potentially worrying aspects of school for children.

Here is a quick summary of what is in the book:

  • School worries are creatively presented through 25 rhymes, top tips, facts and

      mantras.

  • With beautiful graphics and design features for a fun and interesting read.

  • The science of worries is introduced to help children understand what happens to their body and mind.

  • Complete with relaxation and mindfulness ideas to help children understand the fascinating link between body and mind.
