If you wish to cancel a booking, then my charge will depend on how much notice is given:
Where more than 48 hours’ notice is given, there will be no charge;
Where less than 48 hours’ notice is given then the full fee will be payable.
Where WIFI/technology issues arise, a telephone appointment will be offered as an alternative. If the telephone appointment is not utilised, this is chargeable at the full session rate.

The exception to confidentiality: If I have reason to believe that a client is causing, or will cause, serious harm to themselves or another person, then I am obliged to share that information. I am also obliged to share information if the client is a child or vulnerable adult and is deemed to be at risk from others. In these circumstances the information is usually shared with the client’s G.P. I will always aim to discuss this with the client beforehand.
If I am asked to share information with a third party (e.g. employers, insurance companies or GPs) I will only do so if, and to the extent, agreed by you. The only exception is that set out in clause 7 above.
Rates will be reviewed on April 1st every year. These rate increases apply to new and existing clients.
If a client attends a session, and I have reason to believe they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the session will be cancelled and fully chargeable.
In the event of professional negligence or breach of contract, Dr Elaine Smith’s total liability will not exceed £6,000,000.
Dr Elaine Smith will not link with, or have any knowing contact with clients on personal Social Media sites. This ensures that professional boundaries are maintained, and client confidentiality is protected. Dr Elaine Smith has business Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, which are open to the public.
Supervision is a requirement for all psychologists to ensure that the highest standards of professional and ethical practice are adhered to. I discuss therapy within a supervision context.
