How To Become A More Compassionate Leader - A Brand New Way!

April is Stress Awareness Month!

And I have been very aware of my own stress levels, as I have been working on some big projects.

Firstly, I want to share my top 3 tips for managing stress:

  • Notice it, without judgement.

  • Name the emotion - there are some great feelings wheels out there - This is the actual cushion cover I have in my office! https://amzn.to/3xvf4iv

  • Identify any practical steps (even tiny ones) that you can take to make the stress feel more manageable.

    Here are some ideas:

  •     Focus on one task at a time

  •     Set a time goal instead of a task goal

  •     Take regular breaks from work - step away from your work space

  •     Speak to someone you trust

  •     Zoom out and gain some perspective over the current stressors

Some News...

I have been working on my brand new Self-Study Course, called Creating Compassionate Workplaces.

It has been a complete labour of love, with all the highs and lows that any big project entails.

There are a few stand out realisations I have had in the process:

  • Everything in business takes longer than you think it will

  • My brain tricks me by forgetting the frustration involved in some of the related tasks, until I do them again. The business version of rose tinted glasses!

  • The work does pay off, but it can feel tricky to keep on going. You have got to keep the end goal in mind in those really challenging moments.

The exciting news is my waiting list is now open for the course!

You can sign up here https://www.drelainesmith.com/leadersonlinecourse to make sure you know when the course is launched.

It is borne out of my passion to support leaders to support mental health in the workplace.

The course is a unique combination of:

  • Leader Wellbeing

  • Compassionate Leadership

  • Psychological Safety at Work

The topics weave beautifully together to help leaders feel confident in supporting and nurturing their team. It is ideal for leadership and HR training, as a solid foundation for employee and leader wellbeing strategies.

I want to help create workplaces where people LOVE to work, and where they feel seen, heard and understood.

I want leaders to enjoy supporting their teams, and allow everyone to bring their whole selves to work.

We are all human, regardless of rank or role, and we can all benefit from humility, compassion and support.

That is not to say we cannot be challenged, but we can be challenged in a compassionate way.

The course is filmed and produced by the wonderful team at @cutacrossmedia.

It is very important to me that the final product is engaging, and that is makes real life difference.

That is why a live online follow-up session is included in each group purchase. It is not a ‘do the training and forget it’, but a ‘do the training and make real changes’ approach.

There is also a VIP red carpet option, with pre and post consultation for the lead purchaser, and a personalised 5 minute introductory video for your team.

Every role and organisation is made up of countless nuances that will make this training experience different for everyone. The consultations can help you to get the most out of the course.

So self-study, at your own pace, but with added support to help you make real changes.
